Review your value chain map
Confirm that the AI's picture of your value chain matches reality, so the IROs cover the right ground.
The value chain map is not something you build or edit in the platform. Karomia produces it from your documents and sends it to you for review, and we record your remarks. Ask for it through the in-app chat when you generate your IROs.
Introduction
ESRS requires you to consider impacts, risks and opportunities across your own operations and your upstream and downstream value chain. Before generating IROs, Karomia builds a value chain map from your company profile, your documents and public sources.
The map is organised in three columns: upstream suppliers and partners, your own core operations, and downstream customers and end users. Each activity card has a one-line summary, a full description and the references it was built on. Hovering a card shows what flows between activities.
A value chain map with the three columns and one card expanded to show its description and references.
Steps
Step 1: Decide whether to review it
Reviewing is optional. It is worth your time when your value chain is a large part of your footprint: sourcing-heavy, manufacturing-heavy, or franchise and distributor models. For a services company with a simple value chain, most clients skip it.
Tell us when you generate your IROs whether you want to see the map first. We send it to you as a file you open in your browser.
Step 2: Check what the AI got right and wrong
Look for:
- a missing supplier tier or a channel you do not serve,
- an activity that is described as larger or smaller than it is,
- a confusion between your activity and a neighbouring one in your sector (for example infrastructure manager versus operator).
Send your remarks through the chat. Your feedback is recorded as a source of the final map and taken into account when the IROs are generated.
Step 3: Continue to IRO generation
Once the map is settled, reviewed or not, the AI generates your IROs. Continue to Review and select IROs.
Note whether you reviewed the map and what you changed. It is part of the evidence that your assessment covered the value chain.
Output
- A value chain map you have seen and corrected, covering upstream, your own operations and downstream.
- Your remarks recorded as a source of the final map, which is part of the evidence that your assessment covered the value chain.
- IROs written against the activities on that map.
Next: Review and select IROs.
